The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has directed the immediate upgrading of critical areas of facilities at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

He commended the management of the hospital for standing by the vision of the hospital in saving lives and pointed out that it was at the same hospital that the former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Targema Takema was revived back to life and still alive today, and appreciated the effort of the hospital staff for being equal to the task, and further promised to continually support the hospital.
The Governor, who also expressed his emotional feelings and greeted other patients at the ward, released the sum of two million naira to the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Terrumun Swende, to settle their medical bills.

In a similar development, the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engineer Benson Abounu, has commended the effort of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital medical team in saving the life of Mrs. Mlumun Adyorough, wife to the slain aide to the Governor.

The Deputy Governor who gave the commendation when he led other members of the State Executive Council to the hospital on the 22nd of August 2017, expressed gratitude to the medical team in charge of Mrs. Adyorough’s treatment and disclosed that he is delighted with the quick response to save her life as she was brought to the hospital with multiple gunshots on her body.

Engr. Abounu condemned the attack by the unknown gunmen that led to the death of Dr. Tavershima Adyorough and promised that the Benue State Government will not rest on its oars to bring out the perpetrators to book as well as to do everything possible to bring such barbaric act to an end.
