The nutrition and dietetics unit offer services to both outpatients and inpatients with nutritional health challenges such as Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), Diabetes, Kidney Diseases, cancer etc.
The unit also offer services such as nutritional health education in all the clinics and plans menu for the both outpatients and inpatients.
The unit offers therapeutics fluid diets and solid diets to patients with nutritional deficiencies.
The unit runs clinic from Mondays to Friday for outpatients excluding public holidays.
The unit has equipment such as food weighing scale, adult weighing scale, Glucometer, MUAC tapes, food measuring cups, calibrated jug, etc.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The unit has recorded notable achievement such as handling patients with SAM cases and turning out positive results.
Patients with both diabetes cases and kidney diseases, the unit has been handling them well resulting to positive responses.
Nutritional education giving to both patients and patients relatives during the clinic help in enlightening the general public on merits and demerits of some nutrient’s intake.
Creating awareness through nutritional health education to patients and patients’ relatives promotes healthy living.
