The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, has assured the people of Benue State and its environs that peace will soon return to the region.

Prof. Utsev gave this assurance on Friday, 27th June 2025, during a visit to victims of the Yelewata attack receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.

The Minister, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Doosuur Utsev, said they were in the state to sympathize with and support victims affected by recent attacks allegedly carried out by Fulani militia, which have claimed several lives.

He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to ending insecurity in Benue, revealing that the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff recently held high-level meetings with stakeholders in Makurdi.

Prof. Utsev was received by the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, along with other top management staff, who led him around the wards where victims are currently receiving medical care.

During the visit, the Minister donated the sum of One Million Naira, along with relief materials including wrappers, toiletries, and a bag of garri, to ease the suffering of the victims and support their recovery.
